Anambra State is now under security surveillance after the NSCDC uncovered an illegal artisanal refinery and unlicensed petrol station at Y-Junction, Nkwelle Ezunaka. The discovery followed a coordinated operation with the Nigerian Army and Navy, based on credible intelligence.

The operation led to the arrest of one suspect and the seizure of adulterated petroleum products, including 49 kegs of AGO, four 200-litre drums of PMS, and a pumping machine. The NSCDC’s State Commandant, Maku Olatunde, confirmed the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of illegal petroleum products, emphasizing the commitment to eradicating illegal oil activities in Anambra. He warned perpetrators to avoid the state or face legal consequences, adding that the command is monitoring individuals and syndicates using deceptive fronts for oil-related crimes and will take decisive action if necessary.

The NSCDC praised the Nigerian Navy and Army for their support in combating illegal oil activities, highlighting successful inter-agency cooperation. Commandant Olatunde assured the public of a thorough investigation and prosecution of suspects involved in the illegal refinery, reaffirming the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting the nation’s economic assets from sabotage.
