Exxon Mobil Corp. is set to reduce its workforce in the United Kingdom by approximately 250 positions as part of a broader effort to streamline and consolidate its operations within the country.

The Texas-based oil giant has announced that its long-established office in Leatherhead, located south of London, is scheduled to close by 2026. Employees currently based at the Leatherhead office who will continue with the company are expected to transition to ExxonMobil’s refinery and petrochemical complex in Fawley.

This move is part of ExxonMobil’s strategy to optimize its business operations and improve efficiency within its UK division.Despite the job reductions, ExxonMobil remains committed to strengthening its presence in the UK. The company plans to continue hiring new talent at its London trading hub, which it has been actively working to expand.

This initiative reflects ExxonMobil’s ongoing focus on enhancing its trading capabilities and maintaining a competitive edge in the global energy market.”The UK remains a key market for ExxonMobil,” the statement read. “We are committed to investing in strong businesses, expanding our London trading hub, and upgrading our Fawley Petrochemical Complex. Our presence in the country will remain significant.”
