The Super Eagles of Nigeria faced significant delays upon their arrival in Libya on Sunday, October 13th, ahead of their crucial AFCON qualifier match.

The team’s flight was diverted from Benghazi, the planned venue for the match, to another city due to undisclosed security concerns.

Videos released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) show the Super Eagles players and officials attempting to resolve the issue at the Libyan airport.

While the exact reasons for the delay remain unclear, it’s believed that the Libyan authorities may have implemented stricter security protocols for international arrivals.

The Super Eagles had defeated Libya 1-0 in their previous encounter on matchday three of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

The upcoming match in Libya is crucial for both teams’ chances of qualifying for the continental tournament.

As of now, it remains uncertain whether the match will proceed as scheduled, and if so, whether it will take place in Benghazi or a different location.

The NFF is closely monitoring the situation and working with Libyan authorities to resolve the issue.
