The Federal Government plans to receive the first batch of 3.205 million electricity meters in April 2025 to address the metering gap. Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, announced this in a statement, noting the meters are part of the Distribution Sector Recovery Programme (DISREP), which aims to deliver 3.2 million meters by 2026.

A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been set up to oversee its implementation.

Despite challenges, the government has made steady progress in metering, with 5.502 million meters installed by Dec 2024, covering 55% of active customers. In 2024, 572,050 meters were installed.
