Dangote: We’re Not Competing with NNPC Ltd

Aliko Dangote, the Chairman of Dangote Group, has clarified that his company is not in competition with NNPC Ltd. He emphasized that their business operations and objectives are distinct, and there is no direct rivalry between Dangote Group and the state-owned oil corporation.The Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals (DPRP) has stated that it does not compete with Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), as both play complementary roles in Nigeria’s energy sector.

This was clarified during a visit by Dangote Group’s CEO, Aliko Dangote, to NNPC Ltd.’s Group CEO, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, in Abuja. Dangote emphasized that the two organizations are partners in Nigeria’s energy transformation, not competitors, highlighting the importance of collaboration between them.Aliko Dangote congratulated NNPC Ltd.’s CEO, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, and his team on their appointments, expressing confidence in their ability to meet national energy goals. Ojulari, in return, appreciated the visit and affirmed NNPC Ltd.’s commitment to a value-driven partnership with Dangote Group.

He praised NNPC Ltd.’s skilled and dedicated workforce and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in areas of mutual interest, focusing on innovation, strategic investment, and long-term value creation. Both leaders committed to personally managing the partnership to drive Nigeria’s energy and economic development.The partnership between NNPC Ltd. and Dangote Group is crucial for Nigeria’s goal of enhancing refining capacity, reducing fuel imports, and achieving energy self-sufficiency. With Dangote Refinery’s 650,000 bpd capacity and NNPC’s national role, their collaboration could transform Nigeria’s downstream sector.
