Iberdrola Secures Deal to Supply Power for Honda Car Manufacturing in Mexico

Honda has partnered with Iberdrola to power its Mexican operations in Guanajuato and Jalisco with renewable energy from Iberdrola’s wind farms.

The deal supports Honda’s production of 200,000 cars and 120,000 motorcycles annually while reducing CO2 emissions by 63,826 tonnes per year—equivalent to the carbon captured by over a million trees in a decade.Honda’s deal with Iberdrola includes Guarantees of Origin to certify its renewable energy use.

Iberdrola also signed a long-term agreement to supply clean power to Air Liquide for its operations in Spain and Portugal, supporting the company’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions in industrial and medical sectors.Iberdrola supplies power globally from wind and solar projects.

Clients include Amazon, Apple, Mercedes-Benz, and VW-SEAT. Its 2026 plan targets €41B investment in electrification.Iberdrola’s 2024-26 plan focuses on networks, diversification, and a balanced energy mix.

With €36B net investment, it aims to expand renewables, boost profitability, and drive economic growth.Iberdrola’s three-year plan allocates 85% of €41B to A-rated markets, with major shares for the U.S. (35%), UK (24%), Iberia (15%), Latin America (15%), and others (11%). €15.5B will fund renewables, mainly in the U.S., UK, France, and Germany. Its U.S. unit, Avangrid, plans a $20B grid investment.
