Senate Confirms Fracking Executive Chris Wright as Trump’s Energy Secretary

Chris Wright, 60, who has served as the CEO of Liberty Energy since 2011, has stated that he will resign from his position at the company once his confirmation as Energy Secretary is finalized.On Monday, the U.S. Senate confirmed Chris Wright, a prominent executive in the fracking industry, as President Donald Trump’s new Energy Secretary.

The confirmation came after a vote of 59 in favor and 38 against. Wright, who has held the position of CEO at Liberty Energy since 2011, is set to bring his extensive experience in the energy sector to the role.As Energy Secretary, Chris Wright will oversee an agency with a substantial budget of approximately $50 billion.

A significant portion of this budget, nearly half, is allocated to the critical task of maintaining and ensuring the security of the United States’ nuclear weapons stockpile, a responsibility that falls under the Department of Energy’s jurisdiction.

In addition to overseeing the nuclear weapons stockpile, Chris Wright will be responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s 17 national laboratories. These labs play a crucial role in advancing cutting-edge scientific research across various fields, ranging from the development of fusion energy to advancements in supercomputing.

Wright’s leadership will guide these institutions in their efforts to drive innovation and technological progress in areas vital to national security and energy sustainability.
