
The Katsina State Government has invested N3.8 billion in solar power projects, including solar mini-grids for key government institutions like the General Hospital, Government House, and State Secretariat.
Deputy Governor Malam Faruq Lawal-Jobe highlighted these efforts as part of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration’s focus on renewable energy and infrastructure development.The Katsina State Government is implementing N3.8 billion worth of solar mini-grid projects at key facilities like the General Hospital, Government House, and State Secretariat.
Additionally, the administration has invested in solar street lighting, installing 74 kilometers of lights in the metropolis and 11 kilometers from Al-Qalam University to Darma Rice Mill to improve security and infrastructure.The Katsina State Government is rehabilitating and expanding the power grid, including installing new transformers, laying electric cables, and performing routine maintenance.
Efforts also involve changing power supply routes, such as in Charanchi Local Government Area, covering 17 kilometers to restore electricity in areas like Yan Albasa, Eka, and Kadandani.
The Katsina State Government has implemented several security and restoration projects, including the construction of a concrete structure for security lighting on Ring Road Phase I and repairs to vandalized high-tension lines, restoring power to Iyatawa ward.
Additionally, the government has contracted digital mapping of power lines, replaced 33KV breakers at Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, and is committed to expanding electricity access, particularly in rural areas, to improve security, economic activities, and residents’ living standards.
