Gas supply to the 188MW Geometric Power Plant in Aba, Abia State, has resumed three days after a disruption caused by a gas leak and process issue in Rivers State. Power generation restarted with one 47MW turbine producing 25MW, which increased to 39.5MW by 2 pm, according to engineer Dike Ejike.
Total power supply to Aba and surrounding areas has reached nearly 65MW, with additional 25MW support from the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).Power supply in Aba has continued to improve following the restoration of gas supply, benefiting more individuals, businesses, and communities. Power consultant Engr Cliff Eneh praised Heirs Energies, operator of OML 17, for their swift and dedicated response to the gas supply issue.
He commended their tireless efforts—comparable to international oil companies—highlighting their commitment even during the Easter holiday to ensure electricity restoration for the Aba Ring-fenced Area.
Engr Eneh expressed confidence that Heirs Energies would continue to show the same dedication in addressing future gas supply issues, adding that Nigerian engineers can excel if given the chance.
