London, England – The Premier League’s gain of a fifth Champions League spot is indeed significantly influenced by the results of English clubs in UEFA competitions.

Official: Premier League Gains Fifth Champions League Spot

While a single 3-0 victory for Arsenal against Real Madrid in their Champions League quarter-final first leg is a notable contribution to England’s coefficient, the overall ranking is determined by the collective performance of all Premier League teams participating in both the Champions League and the Europa League throughout the entire season.

Arsenal’s impressive win against the reigning champions certainly adds to the points tally that contributes to England’s UEFA coefficient ranking, which ultimately secured the extra Champions League place.

However, it wasn’t solely this result but the accumulated success of English clubs in all UEFA competitions that led to the Premier League being one of the top two leagues in the coefficient rankings.
