Eni will fund solar installations on three public buildings and implement biodiversity measures at its La Flota solar plant, including bug hotels, nesting boxes, and habitat conservation for birds of prey, reptiles, and amphibians. In Murcia, Eni’s renewables arm, Plenitude, already operates the 50 MW Cerrillares solar plant.
Nationwide, Plenitude has around 950 MW of installed solar and energy capacity, with 400 MW added last year across multiple Spanish regions.Eni is building over 1,200 MW in Andalusia, Castilla y León, and Extremadura, with 2 GW in development. In early 2023, Plenitude joined BlueFloat and Sener to develop offshore wind in Spain.
Their partnership now leads the sector with 1.25 GW of floating wind projects in Galicia, Catalonia, and the Canary Islands.Spain aims to increase renewables to 81% of power generation and 48% of total energy use by 2030, as outlined in its updated Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan 2023-30.
