Trump announced a 25% tariff on nations buying Venezuelan oil and gas, citing migration and crime concerns. He stated the tariff would apply to all trade with the U.S. and take effect on April 2, 2025.

The move could impact major buyers like China and comes as part of broader tariff plans.Venezuelan crude exports hit a five-year high in February before the U.S. ordered Chevron to exit by April 3. Trump’s tariff plan escalates tensions with Maduro’s government.

He also targets the Tren de Aragua gang with deportations, but a judge ruled migrants can challenge their removal in court.Trump made the announcement after Venezuela resumed accepting deportation flights, following a brief suspension by Maduro’s government.

He accused Venezuela of secretly sending thousands of criminals to the U.S., including violent offenders and Tren de Aragua gang members.”Venezuela has shown hostility toward the U.S. and the freedoms we stand for,” Trump stated.
