Ukraine claimed it targeted a major oil refinery supplying Moscow and its airports in a record drone attack before ceasefire talks with the US. Ukraine’s General Staff reported the strike, while Russia’s emergency ministry said a drone with an unexploded warhead was found in Moscow’s Kapotnya district and neutralized. Refinery owner Gazprom Neft stated the facility was operating normally.

The claims and potential damage couldn’t be independently verified.Ukraine launched a record 337 drones on Russia overnight, with air defenses intercepting dozens near Moscow, Russian officials said. Meanwhile, US and Ukrainian officials met in Saudi Arabia to discuss a potential ceasefire. The targeted refinery, one of Russia’s largest, processes 257,000 barrels of crude daily and supplies over a third of Moscow’s fuel market.

It was previously hit by Ukrainian drones last year, briefly halting operations in September.Kyiv has intensified daily attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure, targeting refineries and oil stations to disrupt fuel supplies to the front lines and reduce Moscow’s oil revenue.

The latest strike caused explosions at an oil-product pipeline control station in the Orel region, according to Ukraine’s General Staff. Transneft, Russia’s pipeline operator, has not commented.
