Eni SpA and Infrastrutture SpA have completed a 37 MW agrovoltaic plant in Montalto di Castro, Lazio. The facility, now operational, will generate over 70 GWh of electricity annually, enough to power more than 22,000 homes, expanding Plenitude’s renewable portfolio in Italy.
The project is managed by Hergo Renewables, a joint venture with Eni holding 65% through Eni Plenitude and Infrastrutture owning 35%.Eni stated this project is the first in a larger solar pipeline across Italy and Spain. Paolo Bellucci highlighted it as one of Eni’s largest solar parks, supporting Plenitude’s goal of 10GW renewable capacity by 2028. The project also partnered with the National Biodiversity Future Centre to protect local biodiversity.
Plenitude’s joint venture GreenIT partnered with Saipem to use its STAR 1 floating wind technology in two Italian projects. The deal involves Divento, a consortium of energy firms. STAR 1 enables lightweight, easily maintained floating wind foundations.STAR 1 will be used in the 7 Seas Med (252 MW) and Ichnusa Wind Power (504 MW) projects, located off Sicily and Sardinia. Both are in development, awaiting regulatory clarity for Italy’s first renewable energy auctions.
The Divento-Saipem partnership showcases Italian engineering excellence and collaboration with Northern European investors. The scalable technology offers a major opportunity for Italy’s floating wind sector and energy market
