Istanbul, Turkey – Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho has been handed a four-game ban and a substantial fine of £35,194 by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).

The penalties stem from comments made by Mourinho following a match against fierce rivals Galatasaray.

The TFF deemed Mourinho’s remarks “an act against sportsmanship” and further stated they were “contrary to the ethics of sports and the concept of fair play, contained expressions that could encourage violence and disorder in sports, were divisive and separatist in society and could cause fan incidents.”

The TFF’s statement highlights the severity of the alleged infractions, accusing Mourinho of potentially inciting violence and division.

In response, Fenerbahçe officials have confirmed to BBC Sport that they will appeal the penalties imposed on their manager.

The club will contest the ban and fine, seeking to overturn the TFF’s decision.
