FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, Brazil’s largest oil-producing unit, is now operational with a processing capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil and 12 million cubic meters of gas per day.

The vessel features advanced emission reduction technologies, including closed flare technology, which enhances gas utilization and minimizes atmospheric burning.

With an estimated greenhouse gas (GHG) emission intensity below 10 kgCO2e/boe, it is the first FPSO in Brazil to receive a Sustainability-1 Notation certification, recognizing efforts to lower emissions throughout its lifecycle.

Owned and operated by special purpose companies affiliated with SBM Offshore (55%) and its partners (45%), the FPSO is under a 26.25-year charter and operation services contract with Petrobras.

It is stationed at the Búzios unitized field in the Santos Basin, approximately 180 km offshore Rio de Janeiro. Petrobras leads field operations with an 88.99% stake, alongside partners CNODC (3.67%) and CNOOC (7.34%).
