Putin urged Russia-US-Saudi talks on energy, recalling past discussions with Trump and Saudi Arabia’s king. His remarks followed Moscow-Washington talks in Riyadh on Ukraine and economic issues.

Putin last spoke with Trump and King Salman five years ago during OPEC+ oil-cut talks amid the Covid-19 slump. Trump recently urged lower oil prices to pressure Russia, while OPEC+ considers delaying production hikes.

After a call with Trump, Putin said Riyadh talks followed. He plans to call Saudi leaders soon to thank them for hosting and fostering a “friendly atmosphere.”Following a phone conversation between Putin and Trump, diplomatic talks took place in Riyadh.

The Russian president stated that he intends to personally reach out to both the Saudi king and the crown prince in the coming days.

His goal is to express gratitude not only for their role in hosting the negotiations between Russia and the United States but also for fostering what he described as “a friendly atmosphere” that contributed to the discussions.
