NMDPRA has directed depots to stop loading fuel trucks exceeding 60,000 liters, enforcing a government ban effective March 1st.
The move follows fatal accidents, including the Dikko junction explosion, aiming to enhance road safety and protect communities.NMDPRA’s Ogbugo Ukoha confirmed the 60,000-liter tanker ban from March 1 to reduce road accidents.
A stakeholders’ committee, including key agencies and unions, has set timelines for implementing safety measures.Ukoha stated that from March 1, 2025, no truck exceeding a 60,000-liter axle load will be allowed to load at any depot.
He emphasized that stakeholders have reached a consensus and will collaborate to ensure the safe transportation of petroleum products nationwide.
