Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has publicly criticized Ademola Lookman’s penalty-taking abilities following a recent match.
Gasperini didn’t mince words, stating, “Ademola Lookman is one of the worst penalty takers I’ve ever seen.”
The manager’s frustration stemmed from Lookman’s decision to take a penalty after already scoring a goal.
Gasperini revealed that both Retegui and De Keteleare were designated penalty takers, but Lookman took the ball despite their availability.
“He wanted to take the penalty after scoring a goal, he took the ball despite Retegui and De Keteleare available to take it… I didn’t like what Lookman did,”
Gasperini commented. The penalty was subsequently missed, further fueling Gasperini’s displeasure.
The incident highlights a potential rift between the manager and player regarding penalty duties within the squad.
