REA is using €11M from the EU and Germany to power underserved communities.Managing Director Abba Aliyu said over 60% of the funds came from donors. The project will energize 3,700 communities in phases, with 100 communities per state, adding 370MW of clean energy.

The first phase will cover 925 communities (25 per state), adding over 92MW of clean energy through solar mini-grids, which reduce carbon emissions by replacing diesel and kerosene use.

Over 20,000 communities in Nigeria lack electricity, said REA MD Abba Aliyu at the launch of two mini-grids in Bakin Ciyawa and Kwande, Plateau State.

The projects will power 3,500 households and businesses. The 550kWp systems in Bakin Ciyawa and Kwande will cut 600 tons of CO2 yearly—equal to removing 130 cars or planting 15,000 trees.
