NNPCL Urges Enhanced Security for Oil Pipelines and Power Plants

NNPC Ltd’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, has urged public vigilance in protecting vital infrastructure like oil pipelines and power plants.Speaking at a workshop with Kannywood artists in Abuja, he warned that vandalism threatens the economy and national security. Soneye highlighted NNPC’s role in energy sustainability, power generation, and support for key projects like the Dangote Refinery.

NNPC Ltd plays a key role in Nigeria’s power sector, managing the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant and co-owning Afam VI and Okpai 1 & 2, with a total capacity of 1,132 MW.Olufemi Soneye reaffirmed NNPC’s commitment to energy sustainability and economic growth, leading a gas revolution to transform Nigeria’s energy sector.

President Bola Tinubu will soon break ground on five mini-LNG plants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, showcasing NNPC’s drive to harness Nigeria’s 209 tcf of natural gas for industrialization and power generation.NNPC secured a $1 billion crude-backed loan to support the Dangote Refinery, reinforcing its commitment to public-private partnerships.

Olufemi Soneye noted NNPC’s record profits and surpassing 2024 projections. He also highlighted the $3 billion Gazelle loan, which helped stabilize Nigeria during a forex crisis.
