TotalEnergies signed a 15-year renewable PPA with STMicroelectronics, delivering 1.5 TWh of green power from its 75 MW wind and solar farms in France.TotalEnergies has signed a 15-year physical power purchase agreement (PPA) with STMicroelectronics, a leading semiconductor manufacturer, to supply renewable electricity to its sites in France.

Under this agreement, which began in January, TotalEnergies will deliver a total of 1.5 terawatt hours (TWh) of green energy, sourced from two recently developed wind and solar farms with a combined capacity of 75 megawatts.Unlike a virtual PPA, where only the guarantees of origin are transferred while the electricity is sold to the grid, a physical PPA ensures that both the renewable energy and its guarantees of origin are supplied directly to the customer.

TotalEnergies also provides structuration services to ensure a stable, continuous supply of green electricity by balancing intermittent energy production.Sophie Chevalier, Senior Vice President of Flexible Power & Integration at TotalEnergies, emphasized the company’s role in supporting the tech sector’s transition to clean energy: “We are delighted to sign this agreement with STMicroelectronics, demonstrating our ability to offer long-term, tailored clean power solutions.

TotalEnergies is committed to being a trusted partner in decarbonization efforts across industries.”Geoff West, STMicroelectronics’ EVP and Chief Procurement Officer, highlighted the significance of this agreement in the company’s sustainability strategy: “This PPA is a key step toward our goal of achieving carbon neutrality in our operations, including sourcing 100 percent renewable energy by 2027.

Agreements like this will play a crucial role in our global transition, supporting our facilities in France, as well as ongoing projects in Italy and Malaysia.

”The STMicroelectronics deal adds to TotalEnergies’ growing portfolio of renewable energy partnerships, which already includes agreements with major corporations such as Saint-Gobain, Air Liquide, Amazon, LyondellBasell, Merck, Microsoft, Orange, and Sasol. Through these initiatives, TotalEnergies continues to expand its renewable energy footprint and reinforce its position as a key player in the global energy transition.
