WAPCo to start major offshore pipeline inspection and maintenance.

WAPCo will conduct major pipeline maintenance from Feb 5 to Mar 2, 2025, including pigging, in-line inspection, and subsea valve replacement.Services from Ghana’s Western Region to Tema and gas transport from Nigeria to Cotonou, Lomé, and Tema will be temporarily suspended, while supply to Takoradi will continue.

WAPCo’s pipeline inspection spans Itoki, Nigeria, to Takoradi, Ghana. Phase one, completed in Dec 2024, covered the onshore section, while phase two begins Feb 5, 2025, focusing on offshore.Mandatory every five years, the inspection ensures safety and reliability. WAPCo appreciates the support of Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo.

WAPCo extends its deep appreciation to the maritime and regulatory authorities in Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo, as well as to its valued customers, shippers, gas off-takers, host communities, shareholders, and all other key stakeholders.

Their continued collaboration and contributions have been instrumental in ensuring the success of this critical pipeline inspection and maintenance project.Auwal Ibrahim, WAPCo’s General Manager of Operations & Maintenance, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to proactive engagement with stakeholders throughout the execution of this project. He emphasized that WAPCo will maintain open communication channels with all relevant parties to ensure the project is carried out safely and successfully.

By fostering strong partnerships and maintaining transparent dialogue, WAPCo aims to uphold the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational excellence across the West African Gas Pipeline network.
