The Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) has cautioned that the aging workforce in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, if not promptly addressed, could undermine the progress already achieved in the industry, particularly as local enterprises continue to invest significantly.

The Association, however, praised the Nigerian government for its recent energy policies, which have attracted investments to the oil and gas sector and increased oil production.During a recent visit to the Special Adviser on Energy to the President, Olu Verheijen, NAPE president, Johnbosco Uche, expressed his gratitude. NAPE stressed the vital role of human capital development in ensuring the long-term viability of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

To tackle the impending skills gap, the Association emphasized the importance of training Nigerian graduates to replace the aging workforce. NAPE proudly highlighted its efforts in this regard, including the donation of workstations to Nigerian universities and the organization of training University lecturers and students.

These efforts are designed to prepare the upcoming generation of professionals with the knowledge and skills required to advance the industry.
