Chelsea are reportedly open to a permanent transfer for young defender Renato Veiga, accommodating the player’s desire to play as a central defender rather than primarily at left-back.

Veiga, who joined Chelsea in the summer of 2023, has found his playing time limited this season.

The Portuguese defender has expressed a strong preference for playing as a central defender, a position where he believes he can best showcase his talents.

Borussia Dortmund have emerged as the frontrunners for Veiga, with the German club already reaching a full agreement with the player on personal terms and the project.

Dortmund, renowned for their development of young talent, are seen as an ideal destination for Veiga to further his career.

Chelsea are seeking a transfer fee of around €30 million for the talented defender. If a deal can be finalized, it would represent a significant transfer for both clubs.

This move could prove to be beneficial for all parties involved. Chelsea would receive a substantial transfer fee, Veiga would get the opportunity to play in his preferred position at a club known for developing young players, and Dortmund would acquire a talented young defender with high potential.
