Mertesacker, a stalwart defender during his time at Arsenal, made 221 appearances for the club. He is currently working as an Academy Manager at the Emirates.

Both former players have a deep understanding of Arsenal’s culture and philosophy, making them strong candidates for the role.

Their appointment could signal a new era for the club, focusing on youth development and a long-term vision.

As the search for Edu’s successor continues, it will be interesting to see whether Arsenal ultimately chooses to appoint one of these club legends.
